Effective Date: July 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Rob De Franco (“I”, “me”, “my”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit robdefranco.com (the “Site”). This policy is intended to comply with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
1. Information I Collect
a) Analytics Data (Google Analytics)
This Site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics automatically collects information such as:
- Pages visited and time spent on the Site
- Approximate location (based on IP address)
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- Referring website or search terms
This data is collected via cookies and similar tracking technologies. It is aggregated and does not directly identify you by name. Google may retain this data according to its own retention settings; you can find more detail in Google’s Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by adjusting your browser’s cookie settings.
b) Contact Form Submissions
This Site includes a contact form. When you submit the form, the following information is sent directly to my email inbox:
- Name
- Email address
- Message content, and any other fields included in the form
Storage: Submissions are transmitted directly to my email inbox for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. They are not stored in the Site’s database or on the Site’s server — the form functions as a one-way email transmission only.
I do not use contact form submissions for any purpose other than responding to your inquiry.
2. What I Do Not Do
- I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
- I do not use contact form submissions to build mailing lists or send marketing emails.
- I do not use any advertising trackers, remarketing pixels, or third-party marketing cookies on this Site.
- I do not use any tracking beyond Google Analytics as described above.
3. Cookies
Google Analytics places cookies on your device to distinguish visitors and sessions. No other cookies are set by this Site beyond what’s required for basic site functionality (e.g., your hosting/CDN provider or WordPress core, if applicable). You can disable cookies through your browser settings at any time; this may affect site functionality only minimally, since no cookies are required to use the Site’s content.
4. How Long Information Is Kept
- Analytics data: Retained according to Google Analytics’ data retention settings, which can typically be configured but default to 14–26 months for user-level data.
- Contact form emails: Retained in my email inbox for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to and document the inquiry, after which they may be deleted at my discretion.
5. Your Rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information I hold about you
- Request access to that information
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Withdraw consent to future collection (e.g., by not submitting the contact form, or opting out of analytics as described in Section 1a)
To exercise any of these rights, contact me at [[email protected]].
If you have concerns about how your information has been handled that I haven’t resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
6. Third-Party Services
This Site uses the following third-party service that may process data on my behalf:
- Google Analytics — website usage analytics. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
I do not otherwise share your information with third parties.
7. Children’s Privacy
This Site is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Site’s functionality or legal requirements. The “Effective Date” at the top of this page will be updated accordingly.
